About

Raven Quill, Freelance Editor

Hi everyone! I’m Raven, an editor with a lifelong love of stories and a passion for helping authors bring their words to life.

My connection to books started when I was young. I was the kid who wandered the library for hours, searching for the perfect story to match my mood. That early love of reading naturally grew into a fascination with language itself. In grade school we called it “correcting,” but even then, I loved elevating what the writer had already created, making each piece clearer, smoother, and more impactful.

I began my freelance editing career in 2020, and I’ve been working as a copyeditor and proofreader for the past five years. In 2025, I became certified in developmental editing and line editing—two areas of the craft I’ve completely fallen in love with. Expanding my skillset has allowed me to support authors more fully, from big-picture story structure all the way to the finest stylistic details.

I primarily work with independently published authors, helping shape their stories so they’re clear, compelling, and true to their unique voice. I edit across fiction and nonfiction, but romance fiction—especially stories centered on LGBTQ+ voices—is where my heart truly is. Supporting queer stories and the authors who write them is deeply meaningful to me, and I consider it a privilege to work in a genre I care so much about.

What I love most about editing is collaboration. My goal is always to help a good manuscript grow into the best version of itself, offering feedback that feels supportive rather than overwhelming. I’m here to be the steady, trustworthy partner you can rely on during one of the most vulnerable stages of the creative process. I care deeply about helping authors tell the stories only they can tell—and I’d love to help you bring yours to life.
